The cocktail reception for the official launching of Private Art Education followed by two art history and art business talks.
Whether you are an art dealer, art collector, art critic, an artist, an art lover, or just new to the art world and interested in the best cultural activities in London, chances are you wish to share your artistic enthusiasm with like-minded individuals. With Private Art Education, we aim to offer that and more. We provide lectures in London's best museums, a calendar of exclusive art events in the city, VIP previews at galleries and art fairs, visits to members' private events.
Private Art Education creates a comfortable, exciting, and innovative, environment to learn art history, better understand the aspects of the art business, get the inside stories from art-world experts and create a relaxing and friendly networking atmosphere.

18:00 – 18:15 Gathering and Drinks. Guest are advised to arrive at 18:00 harp to allow themselves time to see the works displayed in the gallery and to have a beverage of their choice.

18:45 – 19:15 Talk: Modernist Pioneers in Sculpture
Sophia Contemporary Gallery is proud to present the works of Alfred Basbous (1924 – 2006). A Major pioneer of Modernist sculpture in the Middle East, Basbous drew on the influence of Jean Arp, Constain Brancusi and Henry Moore to create stone and bronze sculptures. Similarly, to Arp and Moore, many of Basbous sculptures resemble an elongated morphing body. However, the prevalence on facial features appear very reminiscent of Brancusi.

Hanna Yakovleva shares the fair’s overview, insights on the art market in the 2016 and projections for 2017.
