“The Nature is so beautiful that useless to add anything else” Robert Dallet (1923-2006)

Artist and naturalist, Robert Dallet has dedicated his entire life to portray animals from all continents of the globe: pumas, ocelots, elephants, parrots and ibis. He has drawn sketch after sketch, tirelessly observing the fascinating spectacle that surrounded him, studying every element of their habitat - trees, vegetation and landscapes. His discovery of margay, a small, charming feline South America, led him to carve out a special place for wild cats in his bestiary always in the making, so as to paint a complete inventory of cats, such was his boundless admiration for beauty of these esemplari.￼ This inventory, unique, exhibited in natural history museums of Rouen and then in Paris, was the work of his life. It consists of eighty plates depicting every species of cat, including those no longer exists: the precision of his line express unconditional love and respect that accompanied him in this adventure. His sense, innate, and continually refined setting of the movement and make these dishes an irreplaceable record of the animal kingdom.
In 1984, the artist met Jean-Louis Dumas, CEO of Hermès from 1978 to 2006, and you created immediate empathy between the brightest minds of the two: the immediate result were two printed scarves, Kenya and Équateur, which marked the 'beginning of a collaboration that would last a quarter century. Until you get to today, with the creation of Carnets d 'Équateur, porcelain tableware created in homage to Robert Dallet talent.
